ÖN – the new funk-infused single from Cosima Olu highlights the expanding direction of the Swedish/German artist. Her recent single Behold marked the artist’s rebirth and this followup release further defines her alluring new expressions.

While not directly using the famous JB Funky Drummer lick, Cosimas’ phat sample enthuses the song with the same pacy rhythm and flair. At the same time, the production allows the jazz flavoured keys and strings to flourish around the edges.

Sung in English the Swedish title ÖN translates in English to ‘Island’, and Cosima plays with the rhythmic and lyrical structure of hip-hop and R&B in her phrasing.
